Hollywood is a place in southern california where many of the first major film studios were set up around 100 years ago. Film making is now a global enterprise, but hollywood is still a synonym for American film making.

How did hollywood become so powerful?
Film was invented in france but tye hollywood studios started to become all powerful by the 1920s
The studios built up their power by following what is called a 'fordist'
economic model and establishing a system of vertical integration.

Fordism-  is a term widely used to describe (1) the system of mass production that was pioneered in the early 20th century by the Ford Motor Company or (2) the typical postwar mode of economic growth and its associated political and social order in advanced capitalism.

This refers to companies controlling all the means of production, distribution and consumption.

 In the late 1940s the US government brought an end to the vertical integration system and forced te studios to sell of their cinemas.

Media plurality- is about the information that people consume on a daily basis, which informs their views and perspective on the world. 'Media plurality' means having a diversity of viewpoints available and consumed across the media.

Disney wants to buy Fox because of Netflix, They are going to start up their own version,
If they own Fox they can put way more content on things because they'll own it.

In contemporary hollywood, individual independent production put together a production-the studios then 'buy into' the film, offering money in exchange for distribution rights and possibly leasing ut facilities (the studio in which to film)

My Advertisement -Magic Broom!

Creating An Advert- Magic-broom! Advert Analysis of Magic-broom. The Mis-En-Scene in the beginning of the advert you can hear very diegetic sounds in the background but will see a very clear role play of a student walking through the hallway to the restroom, with the use of a Long-shot.  Long shots are   typically used to show the entire object or human figure but in my case it was intended to show Honey with relation to her surroundings 'the unhygienic restrooms' which denoted that it needed a good scour.  This is a very significant scene for a cleaning supply advertisement as after the transition there is a Zoom, following up into a close-up,  on the trash. this is when there is a two-shot/ mid-shot to introduce the product Magic Broom; Harry Potter inspired the name because the original inspired theme was gathered from the movie; hence  we wanted to have an enchanted touch, the magical side gave the product significance as it m...
